Elevator Modernization
Recurring repairs and shutdowns are a clear sign that elevators will benefit from a modernization. Learn more about the process.
When do I need to modernize?
There’s no hard-and-fast answer. As elevators age, recurring repairs and shutdowns are a clear sign that they will benefit from a modernization. But if you’re not sure, ask yourself these questions:
- Is your elevator equipment over 15 years old?
- Have circumstances caused the elevator use to increase?
- Have there been increased complaints from your customers?
- Have there been more accidents involving the elevators?
- Are you competing with newer buildings?
- Have you updated other aspects of your building?
If the answer is “YES” to any of these questions, your elevator is definitely a candidate for a modernization. The good news is you don’t necessarily need to replace everything all at once. We are skilled at determining which parts to reuse and which parts to replace to gain the most benefit. To that end, we will create a comprehensive modernization program that will improve your elevator’s performance, reliability, and safety, while always keeping an eye on saving you money—now and in the future.

You’ll find our prices extremely competitive, and we’ll work seamlessly with your consultant and other trades. If you do not have specifications, let us help you.
Preparing for a Modernization
We take three steps for all modernizations:
Step 1: Analyze. One of our knowledgeable representatives will perform a detailed survey and analysis of your elevator equipment. We’ll then identify upgrades that can help improve the elevator and what is necessary to bring the elevator into compliance with current NJ disability requirements.
Step 2: Prepare. We’ll prepare a modernization proposal that will allow you to plan for the inevitable replacement of all the major components. The proposal will be broken down into sections that can be performed independently, one section at a time. Each section will explain the benefits of performing that upgrade and the associated cost. We’ll also let you know what other work needs to be done as part of any elevator modernization.
Step 3: Execute. With all the facts in hand—costs, benefits, required work by other trades, our recommendations, and your knowledge of what’s best for your business—we’re ready to execute a modernization. With the ability to virtually replace the entire elevator and spread the expense over 2 to 7 years, the result is a completely customized modernization program based on your exact needs and budget…with absolutely no surprises.
